After Rain, Quabbin #2 SOLD

This painting is the second in the Quabbin Reservoir series. The day was rainy and overcast and I loved how the rain made the trees dark against the yellow and orange fall leaves.

Quabbin Reservoir Work

One of my favorite places to work is the Quabbin Reservoir. Another rainy day, but the trees get very dark after it rains and stand out more than they normally would. I liked that it feels like you could just walk into the picture.

More Berkshire Woods

The second Berkshire Woods Painting in the series.

Berkshire Woods

I visit the Berkshires in October every year to sketch and paint the woodlands. I love the deep woods and stunning mountain views. Surprisingly the landscape can be very different from what can be seen closer to home. On the day I sketched this it had rained that morning and was a bit cold but I went out into the woods anyway. The rain can bring a richness to the ground and autumn colors against a grey sky that I wanted to capture here.

Autumn Leaf #3

The third in the small leaf series.

Autumn Leaf #2

The second of a series of three.

Autumn Leaf #1

A small oil painting of leaves I brought in and set on a table to study. I used predominantly warm colors and just a small cool green contrast in the upper right.
